went to visit diabetes educator today and while i liked her very much, we
did argue about how much controlling blood sugar levels are going to affect
outcomes. We agreed to disagree. She gave me some info about the
complications associated with GD and my test kit and my instructions. She
would like my fasting to be <90, and my two hour post meal sugar levels to
be <120.
My mother says these numbers are absurd. She says that a normal
non-diabetic person has blood sugar levels of 150-180 two hours post meal,
and she wants to know why it would be necessary to keep my blood sugars
lower than a regular healthy persons. I will call my doctor and ask her in
the morning. If I don’t like the answers I might look for someone else in
town to talk to about GD. Doctor will accept whatever I choose to do, we
are old coworkers and pals.
In the meantime I am enjoying knowing what my glucose is – so far I had a 92
(after breakfast) and a 110 (after lunch).
