OT: Cunnus

If the male organ is a "penis" or "phallus". and the exit of the
rectum is an "anus", and the belly button is an "umbilicus", shouldn’t
it be perfectly proper terminology to call the female organ of coition,
menstruation, and childbirth the "cunnus"?

 I think it should.

varicose veins – 10w pregnant

My wife is 10w pregnant. She developed Varicose Veins during 9w. First
we did not realize that it is varicose vein. We thought it was a normal
leg cramp. But now the pain is not bearable by her, especially in the
evening. She can’t even walk and climb steps. We had our first OBGYN
appointment and the OBGYN prescribed the compression socks. It is
helping a bit while walking but not with the pain. We are planning to
talk with the doctor again and see what they are going to say. Do
anyone of you know anything which can make her feel better like walking
(how long), excersise (what type), hot pack/hot bath etc. As per online
information, varicose veins develop only during the 2nd/3rd trimester.
Is it possible at during 9-10w? It is really painful for me to see her
go through this in this situation. We are not able to enjoy these
moments in our life due to this. Any information/help  is appreciated.

Thanks
RT

My new favorite drink (& pregnancy saga)

I have been drinking Crystal light lately because for some reason this
baby wants me to gag when I drink water, or even lemon water (like I did
throughout pg#1) and other sugary drinks were making me gain too much
weight.

Now,  Crystal light is now getting a little boring & I have been mixing
two flavors & making a new different flavor.  Example; I don’t really
like the Raspberry Ice, so I mixed it with Lemonaid & ‘voila’ a yummy
new drink.

the saga goes on…

The other night my almost 4yo’s tummy hurt (we figured indigestion), so
we had him sip some Ginger Ale that we had left over from my first
trimester.

I drank Ginger Ale earlier on because water or any sweet drinks made me
want to puke, so I needed something non-sweet & bubbly for my queasy
tummy.  Ginger Ale fit the bill perfectly.  DS drank about half, so
instead of wasting it, I dumped it in with my Crystal light.  I tasted
sorta like that punch drink, sans ice cream, that you would drink at a
party.  Very tasty.

more on that complaint

Well, as I thought, the next step will be a face to face meeting, which will
take some time to arrange. My concern is that the people at the meeting will
not be the right people in the same way that the people who were consulted
to form the response were not the right people. For example, one of the
people is the ward sister from the ward I was on before the birth, well I
never met her and from what I can see she hasn’t talked to any of the
individual midwifes concerned, she is just saying, they shouldn’t have done
whatever (mostly refusing to give me drugs I had been prescribed).
Similarly, I’ve been told that it would be the consultant obsetrician who
attends, yet, I only really met her once and whilst the buck stops with her,
by the time she saw me, she had already formed her opinion from what her
registrars had fed back.

In the end, the whole thing totally freaks me out, I suspect I’m going to
really struggle to hold it together. Obviously DH will be going me, but I’m
trying to think if there is anyone else I could ask. It was my health
visitor who initially encouraged me to complain, I wonder if I should ask
her because I think I need a little more professional support, rather than
the caring, but limited in knowledge support that DH can offer.

Cheers

Anne

Smarter?

I was talking with my neighbor yesterday about her youngest child, who
is 6, has ADD & medicated (doesn’t surprise me, actually)

She was saying she put him in private school because he would get lost
in the public system (doesn’t surprise me either, actually.  I would
too)  Her oldest just got pulled out of Middle school because she was
failing & sends her to her Aunts for home schooling.

That brought up the subject of home schooling & I mentioned how we are
thinking of home schooling etc… and she brought up that kids in
private school come out "smarter" (I don’t think she was being rude
though) and went on to say how her son is learning sign language (okay,
good) and also now learning to count in foreign languages such as
Spanish and Swahili.  Yes, you are reading me correctly, Swahili!

I exclaimed back to her in surprise "Swahili?!".  She explained that the
teacher has them playing games that originate different countries and
that she wants them to learn the language so they can read the
instructions to learn the game (or something to that effect).

Does this sound a bit bizarre to anyone else?  how is this going to make
the child smarter if the focus is not on learning standard schoolwork.
What do they do 1st grade, learn Vietnamese?

I dunno, is this a new learning technique?

GD, Grrr!

For the second time I have to go in for the 3 hour blood glucose test.

I failed the 1 hour with pg#1, but passed the 3 hour.

Now again I have failed the 1 hour test & have to go in for the 3 hour
test.

I REALLY hope I pass it, because I do not want to be put on a "diet"

I don’t eat that bad.  Actually my sweets intake has been less than my
pre-pregnancy eating.

He's here!

Peter Robert was born at home on Thursday, April 27th at 4:19pm.  About
16 hours of labor.  9lbs 12oz at 39wks.  Sure glad he got here a little
early.  Now I just have to try and get a bit more sleep.  I got about 5
hours in all last night.
